WHAT IS JAPA MEDITATION?

Japa Meditation is the meditative repetition of a mantra or a Divine name. It is a self-development or spiritual practice found in Buddhism, Hinduism, Jainism and Sikhism. Traditionally it is practiced in Sanskrit, the Cosmic Language or the Divine language.

Sanskrit, is also known as the “Language of the Gods” because of the belief that these sacred intonations are capable of invoking power, or alter states of consciousness. In Sanskrit man means mind and tra means instrument. So mantra is a tool to deliver the mind or better put, purify the mind and to assist in entering the state of meditation. It is also used as an instrument for self-transformation and life enhancement.

Mantra and Japa Meditation works by using the power of your subconscious mind. We use Mala Beads as a tool to count 108 repetitions of the mantra, affirmation or positive statement we would like to achieve in our life. This practice is best done daily morning or evening and with a commitment of 40 days or more. For more information on the benefits of mantras or which mantras to use sign up for the Mantra, Mala & Affirmations Guide available in the pop up menu on this website.

These mantras, prayers, intonations, or vibrations when repeated with consistency and sincerity will energize your mala beads making them a spiritual or self healing tool – Not just a beautiful piece of yoga jewelery.
